As some of you probably know, I recently published my first fantasy book, “Forces and the Malachite Stone.” I’m self-published, and boy has it been a lot of work. At first, the idea of selling our book-babies at such a low price is horrifying, but the more you learn about marketing as a self-publisher, the more you realize that deals and promotions are your friend. After all, I’m the same way when it comes to buying a book. Give me that deal, baby.
So, if you’re questioning whether or not you should keep your book-baby selling at it’s normal cost at all times, it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try and see if you reach more readers at a lower price. Besides, that’s what we want, right, for more people to read and enjoy our books.
Currently, mine is available on four platforms at 0.99. Amazon and Kindle remain 8.95; so, you don’t have to change the price on all platforms. If you’re interested, give it a try, and if you’d like an adventure-filled fantasy to snuggle up with during the week or upcoming weekend, give Forces a try.
As always, happy writing!

Hey all! Over the last nine years, I’ve had loads of questions about the writing process, from publishing to writing dialogue, to how long books should be, etc, and I have definitely had to search for answers. My favorite teachers have always come in the form of books from the local library, yours truly, the internet, and more recently, YouTube videos. And, if you are a creative, it is possible you have questions.
With that said, I wanted this post to be a little different. If you have any writing (craft) question, or publishing question, leave it in the comments, and lets discuss! I can also answer art questions, but admit that my expertise is in writing.
So don’t be shy. Go ahead, ask that question.
Sample questions: How long does it take to write a book? How do you format a book? How do you come up with ideas? Where can I find agents?
I may not write back with a quill and ink, but I’ll definitely use this computer to my advantage!
As always, happy writing.

Listening to the audiobook by Stephen King, “On Writing.” I love how down-to-earth he is and how he really drives his points home. One piece of advice I’m taking tonight is reading more fiction to improve my craft. In fact, I think I’ll read, “Under the Dome,” just for kicks, plus I actually want to read it. So, here goes. Raise your glasses, clink; here’s to reading.
As always, happy writing.

I was reflecting this morning of the value of not only reading books and writing often in order to become excellent storytellers, but on studying the craft, as well. It’s important to find authors who share their wealth of knowledge on the craft and to inhale everything they have to offer. Take your writing up a notch. Go to your local library, or to Amazon, and get some books on the craft itself. Study how to write action, dialogue, and when and how to do description. Learn, learn, learn. Learn about pacing and things like, “Where’s the heat?” for each scene. Read articles on various websites to enrich your story-telling.
One book I thoroughly enjoyed was, “The Writer’s Little Helper,” by James Smith, Jr. Barty Junior. Okay, just kidding. I like Harry Potter way too much. Other great reads include “On Writing, a Memoir of the Craft,” by Stephen King. Eat these books up.
As always, hope this helps. Happy writing!

Hey guys, I recently read a Young Adult Sci-Fi that I really enjoyed. Check out the cover and review below!
“The Forbidden Shadow” takes you on a young boy’s journey through trial, loss, and hope, all the while sending you on a thrill ride in an advanced world of garrison chips, x-ray vision, and escape-rooms in space. I thoroughly enjoyed Asher’s innocence and sympathized with his plight, all the while rooting him on against hybrid hunters and taunting new class mates. Order up, school libraries, your students will thank you.

Hello all. Just finished being a beta (not the fish) for the first time after reading a YA Sci-Fi fiction novel. I have enjoyed this process so far and want to encourage others not to be afraid to be willing to read other’s manuscripts as a way to help to them, and to have theirs read for valuable feedback on their own. Give it a try. It doesn’t hurt. Need a place to find them? Go to Kidlit 411: Manuscript Swap. You’ll see. 🙂
Meanwhile I’m drinking “SleepyTime” tea and about to drop.

Okay, so below are two screen shots of an awesome new website I found. Check out Kidlit 411. This website has everything you could possibly want as an author. I could list them, but you can see them below. I recently used the “Manuscript Swap,” which led to their Facebook group where I found my first beta reader. Enjoy, you guys! It’s got everything from writing to illustration!
